The reason, along with other not-good ones, that this is even open for debate is because too many in higher ed (and education in general) have conceded the massively problematic assumption that there’s room for “legitimate difference of opinion” on this. And… gotta be “civil” & avoid “polarization”!

So many American Jewish organizations have decided to go full force against El-Sayed because of his criticism of Israel and their own Islamophobia, apparently without realizing the vision of the country advanced by these Christian nationalists will not ultimately be good for any religious minority.

I think the thing about the El-Sayed clip is it’s the first time in awhile I’ve heard anyone with any level of authority tell someone that they shouldn’t be a bigot and they’re wrong for doing it
