Apparently you can do it with sprouting onions as well, so they don't go to waste.
Show PostIf you buy a bunch of spring onions with roots, cut the bottom 25mm off and stand them in water, keeping the top dry ( I push cocktail sticks through to keep them upright ). After a few days they will start growing a new top shoot, and can be planted outside for nearly free spring onions.
