No democracy matures past fascism because no democracy has matured past patriarchy (yet). But we *are* making progress, radical progress, in rejecting and overturning *patriarchy* which is why we're having the fascism backlash and all it's reinstitution of patriarchy in almost absurdist ways. 8/n

patriarchy/fascism is essentially destructive without the cooperative side of humans, mainly women, constantly repairing the harms of capitalism and patriarchy, everything quickly falls apart, which is what you see when fascism is ascendant. 7/n

Also: we succeeded in building a world that's better than fascism (which is why fascism has to pretend to be something else) because we've rejected a lot of the foundational ideas of patriarchy, including that women and children are slaves of men and have no rights of their own. 6/n

However, I completely agree that fascism is now endemic to every culture because patriarchy is deep in the marrow of human culture and it's something we have to evolve our culture away from or it will literally destroy us all. 5/n

fascism is no more human nature than patriarchy; and the further you go back the less patriarchy we have, precisely because it has always been a shitty way to survive. Cooperation is survival. "*fascism is human nature* because brutality is survival" is patriarchy justifying itself 4/n
