@mueshymallow.bsky.socialAs promised, here’s a thread of my extended thoughts on Digital Circus and its finale! I tried to organize these as best I could, but I wrote a ton so apologies if I’m rambling. Spoilers, of course, and my words are my own - not speaking for Goose, anyone at Glitch, or my castmates. Enjoy!
Show PostFirst, the sappy stuff. I want to thank Goose for being uncompromising in her vision, Glitch for allowing it to blossom, and my castmates, my friends, for guiding me on this insane career path like I was Pomni, ever the anxious newcomer.
Show PostI also want to thank all of the fans. Above all else, your passion for our weird, sad, and hopeful little show has allowed me to live my lifelong dream. The people I speak to here and at cons have by-and-large been lovely and so gracious to me - I love my job, and I’m grateful for you all.
Show PostI’m a huge sucker for existentialist stories. TADC says sometimes there isn’t an easy solution to our problems; when bad things happen, sometimes the only thing we can do is work to make the best of them - whether making peace with an unfair world, or fighting for a better one if possible.
Show PostStories with strong themes need to give equal weight to both the protagonist and antagonist sides; it makes a story feel like a battle of ideas. I think Jax and Caine are the most complex characters in TADC by necessity, since there are seven leads: five protagonists and two antagonists.
