I maintain that if your goal is to use indie dev to achieve a sustainable income flow: you should NOT be doing that and should definitely seek income from traditional means. Indie dev is one of the most competitive, labour-intensive and least practical ways to achieve sustainability. Do not do it!
Show PostIndie dev is spending months-to-years using incredibly specialized skills to make 1 game that due to market competition has a near-guaranteed chance of never coming close to breaking even. The math has *never* checked out, and I am mystified when people approach it like it's a sustainable target.

i'm not the first person to say it but it sure is fucked up how many popular video games these days are just "wouldn't it be cool if you could pursue a single career you enjoy, with plenty of time for rest, and get paid a reasonable living wage for doing so"
