They tricked me into buying the fancy dancy pan-optic model. Now you can buy an attachment for your phone that is much easier to use than the welch-allyn one. Like $30. And you can take pictures to show a patient. Or use it on yourself, which is a pretty tough trick with the handheld ones we got.

My panoptic was money well spent though! I’m trash without it, but I feel pretty good about fundoscopy skills now. I bought it for cheap as an MS4 off of another med student who unwisely bought one before going into anesthesia.
