One more thing: the culture on reddit against self-promotion is . . . not great. It's easy to understand why it's there, but it's created a culture that isn't good for artists.
Show Postwho knows their shit or someone who realized they're trans three months ago who doesn't have much lived experience.
Show PostI will say that trans reddit is not very good. There are too many baby transes on trans reddit, I think, which means there's too much inexperience. With the way reddit works, there aren't really identifiable community leaders/elders on trans reddit and so you can't tell if you're talking to someone
Show PostI'm not saying anyone "needs" to make a reddit account for any reason or is obligated to try it. It's just that I regularly see people talking about reddit in a way that seems pretty divorced from reality. A lot of the most controversial subreddits have been banned for years.
Show PostI find it interesting that most people consider reddit to be a right-wing website, because most people on reddit view reddit as being a left-leaning site. Very common refrain on reddit is "The consensus on this post means nothing IRL, because we're a bunch of highly online left-of-center people."
