I wrote a short non-technical blog post about the two big recent security vulnerabilities with a few good links for learning more about it and some simple things you can do. www.librarian.net/stax/6002/wh...
Show Posti gotta go to work in a minute but there's something much bigger here, not just politics of disgust but a whole way of thinking that is more comfortable with authoritative, "objective" proxies for morality than with admitting you care about things
Show Postand honestly i think what gets up my ass about armchair diagnosis isn't primarily the splash damage to people who have personality disorders but are trying their hardest not to make it other people's problem it's more the replacement of morality with disgust that bothers me. don't do that.
Show Postidk, it doesn't matter and in many cases i don't even think it's incorrect exactly (though you can't really be right or wrong about someone having a personality disorder because 90% of the criteria are "what emotions does the clinician project onto you" and there is no other test to check against)
Show Posti think the worst thing you can say about someone is "fully aware of the harm it would cause, they acted based on their conscious beliefs and deliberate choices" but some people i guess aren't good at right/wrong and only understand yucky/yummy, so they get more comfy diagnosing Evilness Disease
