A lot of non-religious libertarians during that time period often saw themselves as centrists because they weren't Christian nationalists & saw Bush 43 as a dumb yokel. They've always been anti-government ideologues who want to strip mine the state for profit--just like post-Cold War Russia.

Marc Andreessen is constantly lying about his personal political views. As someone who was a Republican political consultant during the Obama years, I can tell you: Andreesen was a Republican. We all saw him as such. He pretends now to have been on the left. Nope, he was always a rw libertarian.
