I'd seen people in far worse positions have their rights stripped from them, and I couldn't risk it. Again, I'm lucky. I have a partner and a family who help support me. Not everyone does, but that's not something they care about when they attack our most vulnerable.

So many people live with so many physical and mental disabilities and the lack or respect and compassion shown towards them by people in charge of providing welfare is disgusting. Despite being fully entitled to sickness benefit, I was scared away from it. I couldn't afford to lose my PIP.

I can not support myself how I once did, and that is not a nice feeling. Again, I consider myself lucky in spite of that fact. I was sympathetic before, but now having lived a modicum of it, I have learned much deeper empathy. Seeing our most vulnerable used as targets to cut costs is sickening.
