IMO, the defining feature of "-slop" isn't a lack of quality, but rather a lack of care on the part of the people making it. A crayon drawing by a 2-year-old probably isn't very good, but it isn't slop.

(Another good example are all the TMNT clones that flooded the BW comic book market, like Radioactive Adolescent Black Belt Hamsters, etc.) (Yeah, that was real, and it wasn't even CLOSE to the worst.) You never needed AI to make crap. Sturgeon's Law existed long before Sturgeon.

One last thing about X tonight: noting X has 10x the number of regular users than Bluesky means jack shit when a) a shitload are bots, b) the algorithm boosts right-wing content over everything else so actual engagement there sucks, c) 10 million active accounts is more than enough to hang out with.
