I think the issue is just that AI is now a synonym for “generative AI created by widespread copyright infringement that is inefficient and sometimes expresses opinions like a human and makes mistakes that we don’t let machines make, traditionally, so it upsets us”

This is a big problem. I make music software and part of it involves scoring chord sequences as they fit for certain genres or song sections. People are terrified of “AI in music” but “music theory encoded into a classifier” *is* AI. But people lose their minds at the mere mention of the word.
