Our work on false-positive mpox results in high-transmission settings is out @thelancetinfdis.bsky.social. Of 2,724 suspected cases in DR Congo, ~35% of qPCR positives (Ct<40) were estimated to be environmentally derived. A Ct cutoff of <34 reduced this to ~5%, with only marginal sensitivity losses
