The mfa poetry workshop format is designed to make poems smaller, denser, more perfect, trimming excess. And while there is nothing wrong with that type of poem, teaching that as the only valid type of poem is the most fascist shit. I love a hairy, sprawly, chatty poem that takes up too much space.
