It's possible to create a self-sustaining industry that nurtures the workers who create the value in the first place, but developments like this going unchecked is surefire way to ensure that the landscape of game development will never return to a sustainable place again.

This should not be allowed to happen. Epic's true final goal is keep producing more value relative to an ever shrinking labor force. Them paving the way "forward" might end up causing the industry's demise (but not hamper its ability to make a profit for those who still stand to gain).
