For myself, I think I'd say Testament of Youth for PM. One of my favourite books, about the country, very moving, political but not too on the nose (Love on the Dole or The Citadel might fall foul of the latter, and anyway I don't like Love on the Dole that much),

It’s actually INCREDIBLE the parallels. He even mentions “dual loyalty” - an antisemitic trope that’s intended to paint Jews as “other”. It’s the *exact same conversation* And it’s also why American Muslims and Jews are actually very often allies - because we both know how this feels
