Thanks for sympathies, but to be clear, not looking for that. Just trying to explain why the GOP thinks highlighting Acton’s trauma will work, even on people who believe her. The message is rape victims are unsalvageable and need to be put out with the trash, not hired for important jobs.

FWIW, most MAGA people probably believe Amy Acton’s stepfather raped her. But they think being a rape victim Is disqualifying. I get this from my family. They believe I was raped in college. They just use that as their reason to call me crazy and say my judgment is untrustworthy.

My mom has accused me multiple times of only being a Democrat because my rape trauma broke my brain, rendering me too permanently crazy to know what I’m talking about. This is, to be clear, not true. But it shows how gross right wing rationalization gets.
