This is a perfect illustration of how the dangers of AI are overwhelmingly not about bad model alignment with pro-social human values, but bad user alignment with pro-social human values. AI didn’t make this guy value getting in another 20 minutes of low-productivity work over bonding with his kid.

This is one of those things where I just genuinely have a fundamentally different experience from what is, apparently, going on with some people. I’ve played around with LLM’s. At no point did I even have a flicker of recognition that I was interacting with anything remotely *like* a person.
