You are not hearing me. When Democrats anywhere in the country decide that civil rights protections of minorities and marginalized people are not “their issues,” they abandon what Democrats have long been known for. Platner would deserve no support from the national party.

Millions of Americans could say “There are almost no Black people or Jews in my town.” If those who claim to be Democrats follow that with “Therefore we needn’t be too concerned with civil rights of when we pick candidates,” then calling yourself a Democrat means nothing. (And women are everywhere!)
