Show PostI hate to put it this way, but the easy way to look at this is that masculine gay guys are just a lot less targeted and much more accepted, both by society at large and within gay communities.
Show PostDefinitely matches my experience, and it can be frustrating when people fold this problem into acceptance of homosexuality as if they can be simplified together.
Show PostThat said, I don't have a problem looking at all of this as being within the wheelhouse of homophobia most of the time, as most people probably perceive it. It's not that I feel the category of homophobia excludes me. But, for example, anti-effeminacy is still a problem in gay communities.
Show PostAnti-effeminacy, though, was and is the big problem for me, so it was one of the first things I tried to come up with a language for talking about.
