Diacritics matter. This sentence would be so very, very different without them: "Ek het die poësie van Elisabeth Eybers vir die eerste keer in Mevrou Arendse se klas by Andries Waterboer Hoërskool in De Aar teëgekom" . . . Without them, that was not a high school, that was not poetry.
