I use Youtube on a Desktop (well, Notebook) also occasionally. Not a fan. Much easier on other devices. But Youtube is trying to "improve" the experience on other devices to allow more advertisement. iPad: Cancel fullscreen for ads without returning to full screen or disable controls to minimize.
