These are the ill-informed DOGErs who were responsible for blithely cancelling millions of allocated NEH grants. Colleagues, friends, up-and-coming and established scholars lost research funding and livelihood and all the future benefits these grants could have led to. This is utterly infuriating.

I can indeed read all of those crazy Latin scripts (except for Aquinas, obviously), but I'm a trained professional! Seriously, though, it's just a matter of training your eyes to see and decode different patterns than you are used to.

It is quite common, and in this case the illustrations sometimes do and sometimes don't relate the text. This part of the manuscript (the Hours of the Virgin) has roundels that illustrate the Life of St. Katherine of Alexandria, which this doesn't seem to be related to.

I stopped publishing years ago because I didn't feel like I could compete with fast-drafted, write to market books. I am starting to publish again because I realized I don't care. I love my books and think others will too. That is all that matters.
