YouTube censorship is so effective because creators are already exploited by the platform and the threat of having a video that you spent a long time on losing all of the revenue bc they decide it's "not advertiser friendly" works. This vid did get monetized bc I heavily edited it.

YT can decide to limit your video to 18+, to limit ad earnings, or fully demonetize. Sometimes it ends up being all 3 after a while. Sometimes you can appeal and sometimes you can't. This vid is earning a teeny bit of ad revenue. It looks like they let some ads run so I'm going to make $2.80

Ostensibly the reason YT has made this change is because advertisers wanted more "family friendly" vids. Whether it's a push from advertisers bc the culture has swung right or it's YT itself, I don't know. Or both? Definitely KOSA type laws in Europe to an extent bc some of my vids got marked 18+
