right now there's no guarantee AI usage becomes embedded in indie games. We're a scene. We don't HAVE to be this. Individual choices couldn't matter more in this moment. To see that you can make a small, positive impact at mild inconvenience to yourself and say "nah" is to give up on a better world.

Next Fest was already a bit of a pointless exercise for 90% of devs. Now the AI slop has made it entirely pointless for 99% of devs I don’t really know what Valve can do about this, but I think it’s fair to say that we pay them well enough, that it would be nice if they’d bloody do *something*

Working in the private sector, I'd say that government should avoid the rubbish of "government should act like a business" entirely. The waste and inefficiencies I've seen just to make people look good and for books to appear under budget is bananas

Like it doesn’t do that and more already? The public service delivers for human beings, the environment, healthcare, education, culture and society etc - value is intrinsic to that and always has been.
