Astronomy news for spooky season: a zombie planet orbiting a dead (but still hostile) star. Evidence suggests the following: Star dies, expels outer layers, becomes white dwarf. Gas giant forms from the debris. White dwarf is now blasting planet with radiation, shearing off some of its atmosphere.

#editorlife I’m getting annoyed by authors that after a Reject decision based on extensive and valid evidence against publishing the manuscript, keep on insisting that they deserve a Major Revision. The argument being that the first reviewer was in favor. 1/n

Faraday 2013–2026 🐈 I am so sad to say my little faceplanter has planted his last face. Faraday was a beautiful and highly extroverted cat who loved food, cuddling people & RuPhos (whether they invited it or not), invading almost all my WFH meetings, and above all else, chaos. He will be missed.
