So the doctor wheeled me back into surgery, gave me a pill that will make me not care about anything, and wandered away to do something else while he waited for it to kick in, leaving me to stare at the filthy room and rusty surgical tools and cautiously hope I'd still be myself when I woke up.

Mmh. Scary dream. I was getting follow-up brain surgery in a very silent hill hospital. I didn't remember anything about the first surgery, except they showed me a video of how I behaved afterward and I was very rude and embarrassing and not myself at all. Apparently "I" surfaced a few hours later.
