It remains annoying to me that one has to wait for armies to be refreshed for this stuff to get addressed (and even then new chaos), rather then them adding a few additional figures or heads like they did as a stop gap with the Cadians. /broken record.
Show PostI know I can sound like a broken record with this stuff, but part of the reason I'm leaning toward wood/high elves as an old world army is there are women in the mix. I know its the burden of a game with older minis, but at this point in my life I'm a bit over with having to kitbash better rep.
Show PostAlso, if a person picked up your book because you promised them something (pirates, slow burn romance, a monster in the woods), keep that promise in the first half of the book. After the setup, don't wait any longer to deliver the goods.
Show PostGenerally speaking, without these elements, a story doesn't work. Readers aren't always happy with a mid-book twist, but they also aren't happy when the book never does anything unexpected, and the middle of a book can always use an injection of something new to keep the momentum going.
Show PostI strongly believe in a four-act version of the three-act structure. #writingtips Act One: Setup Act Two: Fulfill the expectations of the premise. Mid-book twist. Act Three: The threat closes in. All is Lost moment (forces character to change). Act Four: Resolution. (Show character has changed.)
