#TCMParty #BaseballBugs is by far my favorite Bugs Bunny cartoon. "The Gas House Gorillas are a bunch of doity players!" I'm in tears.

I think so too! Joan had already worn prosthetics that disfigured her face quite badly on one side like they did with Robert Young here, in A Woman's Face. That was a remake of an Ingrid Bergman movie-and she'd done it too-so what was Dorothy's problem? #TheEnchantedCottage #TCMParty

This is pure speculation on my part, but maybe she considered prosthetics gimmicky/an acting crutch that might detract from her performance. I heard something similar about Spencer Tracy when he was doing Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

She's so horrible!!! I think the big surprise of the movie for me was that she gets this chance to redeem herself and then absolutely and purposefully fails. #TheEnchantedCottage #TCMParty

Oh so THAT'S why Dorothy McGuire wasn't wearing prosthetics!–She actually refused! Well now I've lost (more) respect for her. Why did she get to decide the character wouldn't actually be ugly? Robert Young wasn't afraid to go with the horrifying makeup. #TheEnchantedCottage #TCMParty
