a core reason why older games are highly regarded is bc a lot of those teams were never referencing games. they were referencing hiking in the woods, chatter on the radio, the sound of waves crashing, how an oil painting blends if you are a dev, I urge you to find inspiration in other mediums

"but what if I'm not releasing on steam?" then it makes more sense to have a native linux build, but I personally would still just add the windows build to the steam client and run it with proton I still think it isn't worth the effort of maintaining a whole extra build when proton exists
