This is my hometown. South Africa has seen outbursts of xenophobic violence for decades but it’s particularly bad in KZN because there are lots of Zulu nationalists and Zuma supporters there (he is isiZulu), and it’s particularly bad right now because of a recent court ruling about asylum seekers.

I think this is the first time I’ve seen a cricket article in the Staggers. It’s quite good. Only obliquely covers the social aspect of going to championship games, which is a key selling point, imv. It can be an antidote to loneliness, and it’s good to feel part of something bigger than you are.

Popped into V&B for a swift half or four. I really should come here more often. The only V&B outside of France. Craft beer names never get any more sensible. ‘Invoice Me for the Microphone’ slipping down well.

A while back on here I mentioned Graham Cousins, and how Rev D Wayne Love used to frequently crash at his house. He’s recently died, this is a good obituary of a real character. nenequirer.com/2026/10/06/g...
