"Price on application", when your pet needs urgent attention, is a licence to print money. As I discovered. With the clock ticking, I found an experienced veterinary eye surgeon a 2 hour drive away who could do the surgery at ~1/2 the original quoted price. He had an online price list.

Almost all vet practices (even the ones that market themselves as family-owned) are now owned by private equity. Unregulated; fees through the roof. They know people will pay regardless. I hope your cat is feeling better soon x
