I might not be right, so do the simple, easy, cheap things first. Take the air filter off the bike and run it and see if that fixes your problem. If it does then yes clean the filters and 👍 If not then go to CDI. You should have two, change both.

Yep, just replace and bin the old one, they can't be repaired.

CDI causes the bike to rev poorly when they are on their way out so you have to turn tickover up which causes the bike to rev high when hot and race when you close the throttle, there's a lag. Hope I'm making sense.
