The whale sex could be a "dominance" behavior but even then, we are just guessing. Until we can read a whales mind we can't say any more than what it could be. For now, it's just an interesting animal behavior, and an example of homosexual behavior in humpbacks. Okay thats my biology rant lol

Sex in the animal kingdom is incredibly diverse, and animals do not have a morality that we can/should apply to them. It's just behaviors. There is no human sense of right/wrong in the animal kingdom. Is it abusive every time your dog humps your leg? Of course not.

okay the gay whale photos from a couple years ago are going around again and every time I see them I also see people talking about how it's "abusive" bc one of the whales didn't consent. I am begging everyone to not apply human morality to animals, ESPECIALLY not in this context.
