Ik heb t best moeilijk met de staat van t continent en de wereld. Net daarom deed t deugd om effe in m’n eigen bubbel terug te trekken, voor een paar dagen. Dany, Mina en ik organiseerden in Porto en Hasselt vorige week én gisteren de Iberic en Benelux Stronghold kampioenschappen koffiebranden.

Ideally, doing good design for humans makes the humans like your product and want to be your customer. But if we’re the raw material (not even the product!) then the design that gets done isn’t for us.

design is supposed to be a humanist practice. you design things to communicate to humans, to solve problems for humans, to create beauty for humans. If those things conflict with the business goal of making Line Go Up, those practices will lose to things that make line go up.

A really uncomfortably topic professionally is that we are on the other side of a design bubble. Design Thinking didn't do the thing. A tremendous amount of dogmatic, uncritical thinking was happening, convincing workers that "design" was critical to "business success" without defining those terms.
