Their own practices have shown they should never be trusted. They have loooong histories of bad behavior. Everything they say should be taken with a block of salt. They are incapable of acting in good faith.

I did AI training this summer because I teach CS ethics. I realized quickly that any task I would have an agent do was worth doing myself. I do it better and get important info from doing it. And as a prof, I don’t have a ton of truly iterative tasks.

It's good that we invented things like "government" and "the economy" but we can't meaningfully participate in them if the people in charge are constantly rubbing in our faces that these things are fake, and in fact you are a naive doofus if you think otherwise. That's a society on life support
