This is not okay! I feel like I'm going insane as absolutely no one in the national press seems to give a fuck about trans people losing even a paper right to equal access to medical care.

There will be some who try but are constrained by new guidance. Sometimes it'll be okay and sometimes it WON'T be. Trans people will be left without care or pain management for hours, days, weeks. People will suffer and some will die. All of us will live with the fear of being the next Joelle.

I'm begging cis people who don't understand the seriousness of the new guidance to understand that bad things can and do happen to trans people. There are NHS staff who will see leaving us without treatment as something we deserve. There will be be some who just can't be bothered.

Theres a kind of "bad things won't happen" mentality I hear from cis people around a lot of this. Surely they will find a solution. Nice NHS staff wouldn't leave you to die in agony of a treatable condition. They wouldn't start treatment off the ward or place her in ANY ward. Or treat her pain.

If they will do this to a trans woman with the most urgent, life threatening but treatable cancer, how can any trans person trust it won't happen to us for something less urgent? Theres a lot of delusional optimism that they'll "find a solution". But they didn't for Joelle and now she's dead.
