I am so sad about the government scrapping the Latin Excellence Programme mid-year. It was bringing Latin to a range of state schools (with considerable success, as I have witnessed). I am trying hard to resist the idea that it is ill-informed prejudice against the subject. tinyurl.com/5fjr9ywk

Great points pro-Latin by @holland-tom.bsky.social & L.E-M on Today (from 2:47:20): www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/... It's not just Roman poetry: Linnaeus & Newton wrote in Latin! (Plus I met my wife in a scientific Latin reading group 💜) Cutting this programme mid-year is short-sighted & cruel.
