I also wouldn’t recommend relying soley on DOAJ or OpenAlex (which pulls from DOAJ) to correctly identity OA type. Many diamond OA journals aren’t indexed in DOAJ and so these journals are often incorrectly labelled as closed or hybrid in Open Alex.

I really appreciate this initiative, and I already peer review for diamond OA journals and am on the editorial board for one, but I think the info on the webpage conflates OA costs (free to read and publish) and other open research values. Not all diamond OA journals are scholar led for instance.

I also built an academic PDF text extractor service, DocPluck (docpluck.vercel.app), which ESCImate/SciMeto use. Any specific requests or suggestions for new tools and improvements would be most welcome.

Possible, up to them. It's already a plugin in scimeto.app (which also runs metacheck). Slowly improving both. ESCImate has API, and it's based on a R package that's on Github (less updated also CRAN), so in theory anyone can use these in any way they like. I'm testing it in different ways.

Very cool! How about integrating this as a module into metacheck? I also think that this is a good alternative to statcheck.io since that one is offline or slow most of the times I would like to use it, and metacheck can be a pain to use with grobit.
