Of course, it's not just a question of funding. It's also rethinking what the police are for, whom they protect, and how. @chrislhayes.bsky.social wrote about this in his book, A Colony in a Nation. Gladwell could have saved himself grief if he had just written: we need more *and better* police.

Trying not to panic about an 85 on an exam. It's not a bad score in and of itself; it's just that I thought I'd done much better, and the difference is freaking me out, and I can't see what I did wrong until Friday.
