I read a spoilery article (which did include warnings, but I'm unlikely to go and see it) which revealed The Twist - and I thought that actually sounds good, and way better than the trailer seemed.
Show Post“Met another new prime minister”
Show PostThis is essentially the problem with the subscription model. It doesn't work. Netflix is still $14.3bn in debt. Disney+, Paramount and all the others are losing money hand over fist from their subscription services. Only Amazon is unaffected because their output is just to get you to shop with them.
Show PostDisney is devoted to maximising profits at the expense of everything else. The people who make their output care about art; the company itself does not. If they can get the same number of bums on seats using AI, even at the cost of a massive dip in quality, then they'll do it. That's their priority.
Show PostOf course the memo doesn't mention generative AI. They know it's bad publicity. We know for a fact that Disney uses generative AI elsewhere (theme parks, Disney+ etc.). Surely the plan is to adopt it everywhere? Why else do that massive deal with Open AI unless their intention is to use more of it?
