People *say* they’re worried about the welfare of the chatbot and some of them may be sincere, but there’s a sort of pact of forgetting of the poor souls in the Global South being paid peanuts to do sometimes traumatic work to train the LLM. And as you say that’s not new, just a somewhat new form.
