This goes beyond Dylan Skolnick, though the majority of the industry/members/community appear to want him reinstated. We’re also very worried we have a Kennedy Center-like scenario that’s going to go after the CAC’s “woke” programming. In the cultural wasteland of LI, that would be devastating.

No one on this board, and neither one of the two new co-directors, has any significant film industry experience that even nears Dylan Skolnick’s. The board chair is an ex-NYPD cop who became a lawyer and some kind of doctor and who’s a professional board-hopper and donor to local GOPers and causes.

As a longtime CAC patron/member, I can say that this is most well-reported (and fair) story yet. Ultimately, though, despite any acknowledged (and workable!) issues, this was a hostile takeover by a board that may ruin this theater. No one knows and loves this theater more than Dylan Skolnick.
