The restoration of the Port-Vila war memorial is now complete, thanks to finishing work by the French Armed Forces in New-Caledonia. The monument, which was erected by France in 1929, had collapsed during the December 17 earthquake.

It is with great sadness that I learn of the death of Juliette Pita. A French speaker, she was Vanuatu's first internationally recognised female painter, with whom we often worked. Her work lives on. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.
