I've discussed conditional whiteness before--belonging to the bullshit elite class right up until you don't. It resonated with a lot of biracial folks as well as white-passing Jewish folks re: antisemitism. It's weird and hard. We do our best.

The best I've been able to come up with over the years is use my platform for good, to advocate for humility and learning for my fellow pasty skinned privileged folks, and to be open to evolving, no questions asked. I exist between two worlds. It has to be good for something.

It's a very odd thing to navigate the world for all intents and purposes as white with passing privileges but have brown family you worry about constantly. To worry that, in my case, my legal last name is going to get me grief in a country that is targeting Latine and Hispanic people.
