Very excited about this collaboration with @emrich.bsky.social! Usually I'm writing about other people's #chess research, but this time I had the chance to work with a great colleague on a study designed to examine visual imagery, working memory, and chess expertise. Check out the preprint & enjoy!

The first preprint of the UNSTOPPABLE @mahveenmubarak.bsky.social ! What an “unpredictable” ride it has been and I’m excited (and a bit scared) for what she is gonna discover when she “starts” her graduate program this fall!

What determines the perception of orientations in visual cortex, sharp contours or oriented spatial frequencies? It's the contours, the building blocks for shape. Brilliant paper by Seohee Han out in Scientific Reports: www.nature.com/articles/s41... @uoftpsychology.bsky.social

Anyway, what I'm saying is this: Write a weird textbook, even if you don't know who will use it. Put more weird and unique stuff out there, in whatever form makes sense to you. Also: Send me a copy when you do. <end>
