The inconsistent characterization is *infuriating*. Emotionally distant La'an is suddenly a stereotypical jealous girlfriend! Spock is a fuckboi! Erica ... gets nothing at all beyond "I am a pilot. I fly the ship" until late in S3! TRY HARDER, my god.
Show PostI think the show fails to understand that nostalgia alone isn't enough to carry people from SNW -> TOS, and that characterization has to have a consistent throughline/arc to make that transition between shows believable. So we get what looks like no planning, just gimmicks and vibes.
Show PostIt's immensely frustrating. And I agree, Mount acts like he doesn't care anymore. I'm hoping that the final season will be better because they have fewer episodes and a known plot endpoint (Pike's injury).
Show PostMount was wildly better at his comedy double than he is as Pike, and his character here is one of the bright spots in an episode that ... well, I'll just call it an episode and leave it at that. Anyway, I genuinely enjoyed the S4 finale, dubious wigs aside, and hope you do too.
Show PostIt was both hilarious, and preposterously unbelievable at the same time.
