I went through a couple informal writeups about Monads and the coin didn't drop for me until I read this: github.com/enricopolans... Bit of a preamble to get to Monads, but seeing the hierarchy of Semigroup -> Monoid -> Monad I thought helped boil it down a lot. Not a full definition yet, but helps
