Because right now, when high gas prices are salient, is the time to say "maybe it's a good idea to spend a few grand running some wires." More and more people who can charge at home today are going to buy EVs, and landlords who don't prepare for an electric future are dumb. But I repeat myself.

Generally high compression engines are the only ones to benefit from high octane, and I'd be very surprised if more than a few percent of drivers know their compression ratio. But the marketing has been successful focusingon how "clean" your engine will be with all the extra detergents in premium.

Look, my intention is not to rub it in here, but I've been interested in electric cars for a very long time because I have been blessed with a memory longer than that of a goldfish. My flavor of Midwestern cheap is about stability in costs, not just what's cheap today.
