Of course you can, because the specific claim isn't that "something happened" - it's that there has been a disproportionate increase of antisemitism on the left. The general change in circumstances does not logically imply that specific shift.

You've misunderstood my argument. I am simply citing the Authoritarian Personality as establishing that antisemitism is something we can evaluate empirical measures for. Not making claims that it proves something about who is antisemitic or whatever.

I don't even see much evidence of that. The only antisemitism that I ever see on the left is coming from people who always seemed to have an antisemitism problem. I have a hard time thinking of a leftist who wasn't antisemitic before October 8 but now is.
